  • 1. What is a good solution for AC noise on my video display? +

This noise is best handled by a video isolation transformer. Deerfield Laboratories manufactures a filter for use on AC airplanes, part number 162-1 (spec sheet). The cost of the filter is about $100. For more information, call Deerfield at 650-632-4090.

  • 2. What is 12 VDC? +

12 VDC is the power required by some of our smaller in-flight entertainment products. Several manufacturers carry a 28 to 12 Volt converter. See below.

  • 3. How do I convert 28 VDC Aircraft power to 12 VDC? +

Lone Star Aviation has a 28V DC to 14V DC converter [PN LS03-05001, Phone: 682-518-8882]. Dallas Avionics also has a solution [Astron Power Supply P/N N2412-12, Phone: 800-527-2581].

  • 4. Do you have burn testing information for your monitors? +

Our LCD screens are covered with a sheet of Lexan. Certificate of Flammability Testing to FAR 25.853(a) Appendix F, Part I (a) (1) (ii). You can also read more information about GE Lexan.

  • 5. Why do I need an amplifier for Flight Display Systems products? +

  • 6. How can I be sure I am using the latest FDS manual during engineering and installation? +

Always refer to our support page. It will always have the latest revision.

  • 7. What is the pin out for the FD70CV-V to DB15 connector? +

  • 8. Can you provide me with a matrix of your distribution amplifiers? +

  • 1. What is the recommended wiring for your Moving Map display? +

  • 2. How do I install my company logo into the ground mode screens? +

Save your logo as an 1024x768 bitmap image (BMP). Place the image into the Vista folder on your FD200CPU. Open the vista.ini file (configuration settings) and change the line that reads Logo Filename=8x6namerica.bmp to Logo Filename=CustomerLogo.bmp, where "CustomerLogo" is the filename of your logo. It is not case sensitive and must be spelled exactly as you have named your file, including the ".bmp" on the end. Save and exit the vista.ini file.

  • 3. Can the FD200CPU do more than operate the moving map, i.e. XM Weather or Cabin Briefings? +

Yes! Contact us at 678-867-6717 for more information about our new upgrades.

  • 4. What languages are available for the pertinent flight information pages? +

English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, French, and Arabic.

  • 5. I am utilizing either the S-Video or Composite outputs instead of VGA on my FD200CPU, but it is not working. What should I do? +

First, restart the FD200CPU. If this does solve your problem, install 75 ohms of resistance on the connector, connected to the FD200CPU. The FD200CPU-3 and -4 need to see 75 ohm of resistance in order to output properly.

  • 6. How do I verify Arinc 429 data into Flight Display moving map program? +

Check user manual for additional verification information.

  • 7. I am unable to get TV Mode output from my Moving Map CPU. How can I fix this? +

The FD200CPU-3 and -4 need to see 75 ohm of resistance in order to switch to TV mode. The solution is to add two 37.5 ohm resistors, one to the signal and one on the shield, as drawn below.
    75 OHM on Composite

  • 8. Is there an optional hook-up that can be used besides using a ECS VGA cable? +

Yes, the RG179 method is an optional hook-up that can be used. Note the top is dual outputs for the two monitors they have connected to the Map.
